We've posted plenty of delicious food recipes that we recommend, however, I now want to share one of my all-time favourite dessert dishes in my culture (Philippines), there are countless variations of halo-halo, this will be a basic recipe, however, I can confirm it will satisfy, and it could even be customised with toppings to your liking, there is no written rule as to what ingredients you can put in halo-halo or how many. The Ingredients bellow are for one serving, multiply accordingly. This is a fantastic dessert to cool you down on a hot day, with a mixture of flavours.
Ingredients (1 Serving)
- 1 Cup crushed or shaved ice
- 1/4 Milk (fresh or evaporated)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar, if needed
- 1 teaspoon sweetened saba or plantain bananas
- 1 teaspoon sweetened sweet potatoes
- 1 teaspoon fresh or sweetened jack fruit
- 1 teaspoon sweetened beans
- 1 teaspoon Coconut stripes
- 1 teaspoon coconut gel
- 1 teaspoon tapioca pearls or jelly cut into cubes
- Leche flan (topping)
- Ube jam or Ube ice cream (topping)
Directions
- In a tall glass, add a teaspoon of each of your selected ingredients
- Add sugar if you like
- Fill the glass with shaved ice up to the brim
- Drizzle with milk
- Add the toppings of choice
- Serve with a long spoon to mix ('halo') and enjoy
